Anne Frank Day 2026

This year, on June 12, we once again commemorate Anne Frank Day. We use this special day not only to reflect on Anne Frank’s life and legacy, but also to provide an opportunity for reflection, discussion, and learning about other topics and figures. We have therefore created an e-newsletter about Anne Frank that we would like to share with you and your students.

This year, Margot Frank would have celebrated her 100th birthday. For this reason, we are dedicating part of our newsletter to Margot and the question: what do we actually know about her? The second part is dedicated to the history of the genocide of the Roma and Sinti, particularly the life story of Emílie Machálková, who survived Nazi persecution and whose life story can teach us much about humanity.

You, too, can organize an event at your schools, after-school clubs, interest groups, or in your communities to commemorate Margot Frank and Emília Machálková, their stories, and their legacy.

  • You can organize an exhibition (of artwork or collages, documentary articles, historical documents, and photographs)
  • You can initiate essay writing
  • You can work with quotes from the diary and organize a discussion around them
  • You can write an article for the local newspaper

Don’t hesitate to share the results of your creative work with us on social media; tag us @afyn.cz and @antikomplex.cz and use the hashtag #AnneFrankDay2026.

We have some news for you. On the Anne Frank House website, you can now find educational materials on democracy in Czech as well: Lessons on Fundamental Rights and Decision Tree: Democracy or Totalitarianism. Take a look

We invite you all to take this opportunity to discuss these topics in your classrooms.
